Prof Devane spent three weeks (March 5-23, 2018) in Yogyakarta and spoke at several training and workshops arranged by Cochrane Indonesia.
On March 5, 2018 Prof Devane attended a Cochrane Indonesia Meeting right after the launch of Cochrane Indonesia on the same day. He engaged in the discussion and shared his views on Cochrane Indonesia's strategy and projected work plan in the future. A faculty dinner was held on the following day, together with other international guests who attended the launch of Cochrane Indonesia, including Mark Wilson (CEO of Cochrane), Sally Green, Steve McDonald and Shauna Hurley from Cochrane Australia. With other guests, Prof. Devane also participated in a meeting between Cochrane Indonesia team and the Rector of UGM to discuss the role of UGM in supporting Cochrane Indonesia activities.
During his visit, Declan was involved in seminars and workshops held by several Departments in Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing UGM. On March 9, 2018, a seminar on Intrapartum Assessment of Fetal Well Being was held at Phoenix Hotel in collaboration with POGI, where Prof Devane discussed the interpretation of cardiotocography with obstetrician and gynecologists. A three-day workshop on Cochrane Systematic Reviews was held on March 12-14, 2018 at Grand Keisha Hotel, Yogyakarta. This workshop consisted of interactive lecture sessions followed by small group discussions to allow the participants to develop their own ideas in writing a systematic review.
Prof Declan's activities in Indonesia continued by him being one of the guest speakers on a Writing for Publication Workshop on March 16-17, 2018 at Melia Purosani Hotel, where he focused on sharing his knowledge about systematic reviews. On March 20-21, 2018 the School of Nursing invited Prof Declan to give a seminar attended by both lecturers and students from the faculty. The last workshop delivered by Prof Declan during this visit was a half-day GRADE Summary of Findings workshop on March 23, 2018. Attended by 27 participants, this was a relatively more advanced workshop in comparison to previous ones, so the participants were expected to have prior background on both evidence-based medicine and the systematic review.
